Too Cool To Fool Primed for 2015 Adelaide Cup

February 17th, 2015

Having returned to racing in exceptional form this time in, trainer Leon Macdonald has revealed classy four-year-old Too Cool To Fool is likely to figure as his first runner in the 2015 Adelaide Cup (3200m) at Morphettville on March 9th.

Securing an impressive six race wins and four minor place finishes from her 20 competitive appearances on course so far, Too Cool To Fool stamped her claims as a serious 2015 Adelaide Cup contender when charging home to win the William Hill BM90 (2600m) by close to three lengths last time out on February 14th.

Understandably thrilled with the form and condition displayed by the daughter of Gallant Guru over four 2015 starts, Macdonald told The Advertiser he is teeming with excitement in saddling his first Adelaide Cup runner and is confident she is more than capable of a competitive performance come March.

“I’ve never had an Adelaide Cup runner in 40 years (of training),” Macdonald said.

“I want one that’s got a chance; I don’t need one that goes around for the sake of it.

“She’s going to stay – that’s the biggest thing. We’ll just see if she measures up.”

Unable to make much of an impact over two starts through her maiden racing preparation in early 2013, Too Cool To Fool placed third in a minor event over 1400m upon resuming in October of the same year; placing second in the William Hardy Maiden Plate (1600m) on October 23rd before breaking through for a maiden race win in the Sportingbet Maiden Plate (1600m) at Morphettville a fortnight later.

Steadily building to the task over four starts through the 2014 Adelaide Carnival, the mare out of High Class Pro ran eighth in two minor sprints before placing second in the Wesley Fencing Handicap (2050m) on April 30th; returning to the paddock following a credible fifth in the Group 3 SA Fillies’ Classic (2500m) on May 10th.

Having taken out each of the Drink Driving Grow Up (2052m) and Adelaide Cup 9/3 (2400m) in the lead-up to her most recent triumph, Too Cool To Fool will have to find an extra gear if to overcome a 2015 Adelaide Cup field likely to include Renew.
