2016 Adelaide Cup Tips: Real Love On Top

March 14th, 2016

The 2016 Adelaide Cup is now only four hours away, but there is still plenty of time to find the winner of one of the biggest events on the Australian horse racing calendar.

The withdrawal of Signoff due to an elevated temperature has changed the complexion of the day, but Darren Weir still has the favourite with Ladbrokes.com.au in the form of talented Western Australian mare Real Love.

Will Real Love prove too classy for her rivals or can another horse produce an upset? I have taken a close look at all the leading chances and come up with the top three 2016 Adelaide Cup tips.

1st

Real LoveĀ ($2.25)

Real Love has been one of the most consistent performers in Perth since she recorded three straight wins during the 2014 Perth Summer Racing Carnival and she finished a gallant third in the Perth Cup at the start of the new year.

She has performed strongly in three race starts since she was transferred to the care of Darren Weir and she returned to winning form with a tough staying performance in the Listed Roy Higgins Quality (2600m) at Flemington on March 5.

Real Love gets into this race extremely well in at the weights and if she is able to run out a strong 3200 metres she will prove far too strong for her rivals.

2nd

Like A Carousel ($17)

Like A Carousel is one horse that is sure to run out a strong 3200 metres and he is the best each-way selection in the 2016 Adelaide Cup.

The grinding stayer is a genuine 3200 metres specialist and he has previously produced very impressive efforts over this trip in the Sandown Cup and Sydney Cup.

This is a softer race than those two events and he can bounce back from his average recent efforts to finish in the placings when he steps out to 3200 metres this afternoon.

3rd

Celtic PrinceĀ ($34)

Celtic Prince was no match for Signoff in the Lord Reims Stakes, but he still beat home a number of his rivals in the Adelaide Cup and he is currently available at big odds.

He has been a consistent performer since he joined the stable of Grant Young and before that he was competitive in races like the Colin Stephen Quality when he was trained by Bjorn Baker.

I don’t think that he has the ability to win this race, but at his current price there are far worse bets than Celtic Prince to finish in the top three,
